Description
The Parish Church of St Nicholas and St Faith has Norman origins, particularly evident in the north tower loft located to the north of the nave. The church was remodeled in the 14th and 15th centuries and is constructed of rubble with slate roofs. It features a nave and a north aisle, comprising a total of five bays with perpendicular and intersecting tracery. The gabled south porch includes an early 17th-century doorway adorned with a moulded label, carved spandrels, and a niche above, indicating it is likely pre-1558. Inside the porch, there is a moulded holy water strip. A blocked Norman south door is roughly central and features a blind tympanum. Additionally, there is a large gabled 15th-century chapel to the south. The church has double plastered wagon roofs and a square plan font that was removed from Wedgeworthy Farm, which, like Shillingha, Erth Barton, and others, may have had its own chapel.
