Description
The Guildhall, located on the south side of Fore Street, is a Grade II listed building dating from the 18th century. It features a brick north wall that is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a slate roof. The building stands two storeys high and is angled to the east. The first floor has five bays, while the ground floor has ten bays, all with sash windows that have round heads and projecting keystones. Originally, the ground floor was open and supported by granite Doric columns. There is a blocked portico porch to the west, which includes a carved tympanum, granite columns, and a head with the arms of Saltash in a gabled tablet that breaks into the eaves above the porch. The sides of the building are adorned with plain pilasters and wide modillion eaves. Additionally, there are two rainwater heads dated 1780.
