Description
The headstone and tombchest of M. Gillard and W. Gillard are located 1 metre to the east of the southeast corner of the chancel of the Church of St Gregory. The headstone dates from 1772 and commemorates Mary Gillard, the daughter of William and Mary Gillard, who passed away in that year. It is a rectangular slate headstone featuring a verse and decorated with an angel's head. The tombchest, which honors William Gillard, a yeoman who died in 1789, also commemorates his son William, who died in 1793, and Mary, who died in 1827. The tombchest is constructed of stone rubble and has a rectangular slate lid.
