Description
Treglith Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the early 17th century. It is constructed from roughly dressed and coursed local stone, with some cob, and has a rendered and painted front elevation. The roof is made of rag slate with gable ends, and there are stone rubble end stacks, including a cloam oven projection on the left-hand stack.
The layout consists of two rooms with a cross or through passage plan. The larger hall kitchen is on the left, and the parlour is on the right, both of which are heated by end stacks. An integral stone newel stair rises alongside the hall kitchen fireplace on the left. There is also an outshut from the 18th or 19th century at the rear of the parlour on the right.
The cottage is two storeys high and features an almost symmetrical three-window front. The entrance is slightly to the right of centre and has a 20th-century part-glazed plank door. There are 19th or 20th-century two-light casements on either side of the entrance, with two similar casements directly above the ground floor windows and a smaller 19th-century two-light casement above the entrance. A small two-light Polyphant stone window, made from a single piece of stone and unglazed, lights the stair from the side elevation. Additionally, there is a small one-light stone window in the rear elevation, also made from a single piece of stone and rebated for glass. The interior is not accessible.
