Description
River Cottage is a house, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of rendered and painted stone rubble, with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends. Brick and stone rubble/brick stacks project from the left and right ends of the building. The original layout is uncertain, but it probably consisted of either a two-room cottage with a cross or through passage, heated by end stacks, or possibly a pair of cottages, each with a single room. 19th-century service buildings are located to the rear. The front of the house has a regular two-window arrangement. A 20th-century glazed door is positioned to the right of the centre, flanked by a 19th-century and a 20th-century two-light casement window on the left, and a 19th or 20th-century casement window on the right. Two 19th-century two-light casement windows are on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
