Description
Cober Villa is a house dating from the early 19th century, located in Gwinear-Gwithian. The front of the house is constructed from granite ashlar, while the sides and rear are of painted rubble. The roof is half-hipped, covered in scantle slate, with rendered brick chimneys rising from the side walls. Originally built with a double-depth plan, it features a parlour to the left and a larger kitchen-living room to the right. At some point, a shop front was present on the right side but was later replaced with two domestic window openings. A cross passage leads to a central stairwell, and the house was extended in the 19th century with a lean-to on the right. The south-east front is slightly asymmetrical, with three windows. There is a doorway to the left of the centre, with a window above, and a former shopfront to the right of the doorway. This shopfront was remodelled in the late 19th century, and two windows were inserted in its place. A 20th-century door is present. The windows are late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes. The interior of the property was not inspected.
