Description
The Pendarves Arms is a public house built around the mid-19th century. It features painted render or stucco on the exterior and has a hipped scantle slate roof with rendered brick chimneys located on the right side wall and the gable end of the rear wing. The building is equipped with cast-iron ogee gutters.
The overall layout is L-shaped, consisting of two equal-sized rooms at the front, with a kitchen and rear parlour wing extending at right angles to the rear. There is also an integral outshut that likely serves as a stairwell and pantry, filling the angle between the left-hand room and the rear wing. A cellar is located beneath the former kitchen.
The building stands two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with three windows and a central doorway. The door is from the 20th century, but it is framed by an original Classical style doorcase. The windows are mostly original 12-pane hornless sashes, with the exception of two horned copies.
Inside, much of the original carpentry, joinery, and plasterwork remains intact, including window shutters and plaster ceiling cornices and bands in the left-hand room and the rear parlour.
