Description
Nangitha is a house dating from the 18th century, located in Manaccan. It features shale rubble walls with painted cob on the first floor, dressed granite sills, and wooden lintels. The steep scantle slate roof is complemented by brick chimneys at the gable ends, and it has cast iron ogee gutters.
The layout likely consists of a kitchen or living room on the left and a parlour on the right, with a slightly right-of-centre cross passage that leads to the stairs and shallow rear service rooms. There is a later extension on the left-hand side.
The house is two storeys tall and has a nearly symmetrical three-window west front. The doorway is central to the windows but slightly grouped towards the right. It features a four-panel door with an overlight and a slated hood supported by wooden brackets. The original 16-pane hornless sash windows, made with crown glass, are also present. The interior has not been inspected but may be as unaltered as the very complete exterior.
