Put-on stone. Circa 1764. Granite rectangular post with rounded top. Incised lettering Put on Coaches travelling from St Ive towards Callington were allowed to take a trace horse at Coombegate to assist them on their way to Callington. At the brow of the hill directly to the north of Cadson, the Take-off stone (q.v. Take off stone 200 m to north of Cadson) instructed the coachman to unhitch the trace horse and send it back. Situated on turnpike road. Act for turnpike roads leading into Callington dated 1764 (4 Geo III c 48) setting up Callington Turnpike Trust.
