Description
Bolywinky is a house located on Church Street in Gorran, dating from the early to mid 19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of stone rubble, with the front rendered and lined out. The roof is covered with asbestos slate, featuring ridge tiles and gable ends, and there are gable end stacks with brick shafts. The building has a two-room plan with a central entrance, where each room is of equal size and heated from a gable end stack.
The exterior is two storeys high, set on a plinth, and has a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century 16-pane sashes with cambered arches. The central entrance features a half-glazed 20th-century door with a cambered arch. The sides of the house abut adjoining properties. At the rear, there is a central 20th-century door flanked by 20th-century windows on either side.
The interior has not been fully inspected, but the passage contains a straight stair, and the partition wall to the room on the right has been removed. The room on the left features 19th-century ceiling beams and a 20th-century fireplace.
