Description

Ebb Tide and Portheast are a pair of attached houses located on Church Street in Gorran, dating from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The houses are constructed of slatestone rubble, featuring Pentewan stone dressings and quoins, and are partly rendered. They have a hipped concrete tiled roof with brick chimney stacks at both ends.

The layout consists of two houses, with Ebb Tide on the left and Portheast on the right. Each house has one room at the front and one at the rear, with paired central entrances. The exterior is three storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor features two 20th-century half-glazed doors, with the left doorway having a 19th-century Gothic glazed overlight above it. To the left, there is a large 19th-century 16-pane sash window, and to the right, a smaller 19th-century 16-pane sash window, both with cambered arches. The first and second floors each have three 19th-century 16-pane sash windows with cambered stone arches. The right end of the building is blind and made of rubble, while the left end is rendered at the upper level. At the rear, there is a 20th-century window on the ground and first floors to the left, along with a small single-storey 20th-century addition in the centre. The interior has not been inspected.
