1/106 Roskrow Barton Farmhouse - GV II

Farmhouse. Circa late C18. Granite ashlar front, otherwise granite rubble with granite dressings. Steep asbestos slate roof with granite ashlar stacks over coped gable ends. Outbuilt stack at left-hand end. Cast-iron ogee-section gutters. Plan: Double-depth plan: 2 rooms at the front flanking a wide entrance hall leading to a stair hall between back kitchen on the left and service room on the right plus a C19 dairy built at right angles behind the right-hand side. Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3-window south-east front. Approximately central doorway within old granite porch. Original 6-panel door. Original tripartite hornless sashes with glazing bars and some original crown glass. Wide window openings spanned by keyed flat arches. Interior: Simple interior with most of its original carpentry and joinery including the first floor and roof structures. Open-well stair with rectangular balusters; probable 2-panel doors (boarded over); large fireplace in back kitchen with domed granite and brick oven, behind the left-hand jambstone.
