Former Brewery At Sw776357 Part Of The Premises Of Gainsborough Fireplaces

The former brewery, part of the premises of Gainsborough Fireplaces, dates from the early 19th century. It features walls made of killas and granite rubble with granite dressings. The roof is covered with grouted scantle slate and has gable ends that slope lower at the rear, where there is a large slate-hung oast-house flue. The building has a rectangular plan and stands three storeys tall. The front façade has an unaltered seven-window arrangement on the first floor, showcasing original barred windows with internal wooden shutters. There is a doorway located beneath the third window from the left, and to the left of the middle, there is a second-floor loading doorway with a gabled hoist above it, featuring old ledged doors. The interior has not been inspected, but it is likely to retain its original floors and roof structures, along with some fittings from its time as a brewery.
