Description
Trewoon Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a scantle slate half-hipped roof, which has been replaced with asbestos slate at the rear where it slopes lower over an integral outshut. The adjoining single-storey dairy is roofed with scantle slate. Brick chimneys are located over the side walls, and cast-iron ogee-section gutters are present.
The house has a double-depth plan, consisting of two rooms at the front that flank an entrance hall leading to a stair hall. To the right is a back kitchen, and to the rear left is a pantry. Behind the pantry is a dairy that is likely slightly later in date.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window south front, featuring a central doorway and a window of the same width above. The windows and door are from the late 19th or early 20th century and are set in original openings. The entrance includes a five-panel door with two glazed top panels and an overlight, along with an open-gabled wooden porch that has a shaped barge board and finial supported by shaped brackets. The windows are four-pane horned sashes, with paired sashes in wide openings on the left and right sides. The rear of the house features a 19th-century four-panel door with later glazed top panels and an overlight, along with a probably original 16-pane horizontally sliding stair sash and an 18-pane three-light back kitchen window, where the bottom row of panes is boarded and the middle light slides horizontally. The interior has not been inspected.
