Description
Lower Trewern Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1800. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a fairly steep asbestos slate roof with projecting eaves at the front. The building has dressed granite stacks over the gable ends. The layout consists of a double depth plan with two rooms at the front; a wider kitchen on the left with a back kitchen behind it, and a parlour on the right with a pantry/dairy behind. There is a cross passage leading to a central rear stair hall.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical three-window front facing south-south-east, with a doorway positioned centrally among the windows. The door is a ledged type from the early 20th century, and the windows are six-pane horned sashes. Inside, the structure remains largely unaltered, though there are few original features left. Notable elements include the original dog-leg stair with a moulded plinth on the newels and two original two-panel doors on the first floor.
