Description

MADRON BOSWARTHEN SW 43 SW 6/138 Farmhouse at SW 441332 - GV II Farmhouse. Datestone 1676, remodelled in circa the late C19. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Scantle slate roof with chimneys over the gable ends. Plan: 2 room plan with central through passage and external stair turret at rear left of middle. C19 dairy lean-to at rear middle and right. Large fireplaces, partly blocked. Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall slightly irregular 4 window south front. Original chamfered doorway with datestone and initials S.M. over (similar doorway at rear of passage). 2 C17 2-light chamfered window heads over right hand windows and blocked original opening in right hand gable, otherwise C19 openings or C19 remodelled openings. Circa late C19 6-pane horned sashes. Interior: C19 floors and stair. C17 features possibly hidden. Probably the oldest farmhouse at Boswarthen.
