Description

This is a pair of cottages, probably built in the early 19th century, located 10 meters to the east of Mary Anns and Cissys in Altarnun. They are constructed from local slatestone, featuring dressed granite quoins and a string course. The cottages have a rag slate roof with gable ends and stone rubble end stacks.

The design includes a double depth, two-room plan for each cottage, with central entrances leading to principal rooms on either side, heated by end stacks, and narrow service rooms at the rear. The cottages are two storeys high and are mirror images of each other. Each has a central entrance accessed by two steps, leading to 19th-century panelled doors that are set back and separated by a granite slab.

To the left of the entrance, there is a 16-pane horned sash window, and to the right, a 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash window. Above the ground floor openings, granite lintels are connected to form a granite string band. On the first floor, there are two hornless 19th-century 16-pane sashes, also with granite lintels. The interior has not been inspected.
