ALTARNUN ALTARNUN SX 28 SW 4/73 Pair of cottages 10 metres to east - of Mary Anns and Cissys

Pair of cottages. Probably early C19. Local slatestone with dressed granite quoins and string course. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble end stacks. Plan: Pair of double depth 2-room plan cottages; the entrances in the centre front with principal rooms to right and left, heated by end stacks and narrow service rooms to rear. Exterior: 2 storeys. Pair of mirror image cottages with central entrances. 2 steps lead up to the C19 panelled doors which are set back and have a dividing granite slab. To left a 16-pane horned sash and to right a C19 16-pane hornless sash. The granite lintels above the ground floor openings are joined to form a granite string band. Two hornless C19 16-pane sashes on first floor with granite lintels. Interior: Not inspected.
