Stable About 50 Metres West Of Bodinnick Farmhouse

This stable, located about 50 metres west of Bodinnick Farmhouse, is likely from the early 17th century but was rebuilt around the late 18th century with few later alterations. It is constructed of granite rubble, with the 17th-century wall featuring squared granite and granite dressings. The roof is hipped and covered with rag slate, complete with ridge tiles.

The stable has a small rectangular plan, with shippons on the ground floor and a loft above. The entrance is at the left end of the front, while the right end is built into the bank, allowing for a loading door that leads directly into the loft from the upper ground level. The front wall includes a section of the earlier 17th-century wall, which sits on a plinth and has a window that likely once illuminated a principal room, indicated by the quality of the stonework. There is also a small 19th-century shed attached to the front right.

The exterior features two storeys and an asymmetrical front with quoins on the left. On the ground floor, there is a doorway to the left with a granite lintel and keystone. To the right, the wall stands on a tall hollow-chamfered plinth, featuring a 6-light granite window with hollow-chamfered mullions and a surround, where the king mullion is also hollow-chamfered and has roll-mouldings. A moulded cornice and relieving arch are present above the window, although two of the lights are blocked. The right side has an attached single-storey rubble shed with a doorway on the inner side and a gable end facing the front. The left end has a ground floor window with voussoirs and a keystone, and a 2-light window with shutters on the first floor. The right end features a loading door at upper ground level, while the rear has a plank door at loft level.

Inside, the stable appears to be entirely from the 18th century, with only the front wall dating back to the early 17th century, and there is no internal evidence to indicate which part of a former building the front wall may have belonged to.
