Description

The stable, located about 5 meters southeast of Sampford Manor, is likely from the early 17th century and has undergone later alterations. It is constructed of mixed granite and slatestone random rubble, featuring granite quoins. Originally, it had a hipped roof covered in slate. The stable is part of a single range that includes a later 19th-century two-storey stable attached to the southeast.

On the southwest side, there is a ventilation slit at both the ground and first floor, framed by a heavy granite surround, along with a drain. The attached stable on the right has two ground floor windows and a central door with a granite lintel, as well as a loading door positioned under the eaves. Above the early building, remnants of a timber wall plate and one truss with principals and collar can be seen, although there is no roof.

To the northwest, a chamfered granite doorway is formed from three monoliths, with a window opening featuring a granite lintel to the right, and later window and door openings to the left. Internally, there is a segmental arch set into the wall at the junction with the stable. Additionally, there is a pighouse addition to the northeast, which includes two doors and a trap house situated at the angle with the stable.
