Stables About 30 Metres South Of Tregonning Farmhouse

The stables located about 30 metres south of Tregonning Farmhouse date from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a later stable likely added in the early 19th century on the left side. They are constructed from granite rubble with large granite quoins. The main building features a hipped slurried slate roof, while the later stable has a corrugated iron roof with gable ends.

The layout includes a stable with a central entrance and a loft above, which includes a pigeon loft. Access to the upper storey is provided from the rear by a ramp, reflecting a modification of a bank barn design. The smaller stable attached to the left also has a central entrance and loft above.

The two-storey stable has a central door with a granite lintel, which also serves as the cill for a central loading door above. There is a row of pigeon holes under the eaves. The lower stable to the left features a central door with a granite lintel and a small loading door under the eaves. The right side shows the line of a former attached building that has since been removed.

On the ground floor to the left, there is a small ventilation opening with granite jambs and lintel, along with a small blocked window opening to the right. The upper level has a central loading door and a row of pigeonholes with slate cills under the eaves. The left side includes a window at ground floor right and a central ventilation slit at the upper level.

The rear of the building features a rubble ramp to the left, leading to a central loading door with a pentice hood made of corrugated iron. There are also two ventilation slits at ground floor level. The rear of the lower stable has a central upper loading door and a small square ventilation window at ground floor to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
