Description
Tregonning Farmhouse and its attached stable is a building that dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, incorporating some earlier materials, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and later. The structure is built from granite rubble with granite dressings and features a slurried slate roof with gable ends and brick stacks at the gable ends. The farmhouse has a two-room layout with a central entrance, and each room, which is of equal size, is heated by a gable end stack. There is an unheated single-storey outshut along the back of the house, added in the mid-19th century.
To the left of the farmhouse is a single-storey stable with an entrance at the front. The farmhouse itself is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, all of which are mid-19th century four-pane sashes in exposed boxes. The central gabled porch features a two-centred arched chamfered granite doorway that has been reused, leading to an inner panelled and glazed door. The stable, attached to the left, is constructed of rubble with a gable end and a corrugated iron roof, featuring a doorway and a blocked window with a timber lintel at the front. The right side of the farmhouse has a straight joint leading to the rear outshut, which includes a 20th-century two-light window. The rear of the building has a catslide roof over the outshut, along with a 20th-century glazed door and a 20th-century two-light window. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in June 1986.
