Description
The stables, located about 15 metres north of Levalsa Farmhouse, date from the early 18th century, with an addition made in the mid 19th century and few later alterations. They are constructed from squared granite rubble and feature a hipped slate roof. The upper level of the stable is made of rendered cob, while the addition on the right end is built from slatestone rubble and has a hipped scantle slate roof.
The building has a stable with a loft on the first floor, which is built into the bank at the rear, with access to the loft provided by an external stair at the left end. The original 18th-century stable is on the left, and the 19th-century addition is on the right. The loft includes a pigeon loft.
The exterior of the original stable is two-storey with an asymmetrical front. On the ground floor, there is one door, two windows, and another door and window, all featuring cambered stone arches. The first floor has three window openings, which were originally fitted with 2-light windows, and a row of square pigeon holes with slate perches between the window openings. The 19th-century addition on the right has one small window opening at the front, while the right end is blind. The left end has an external stair leading to a blocked loading door for the loft. At the rear, the 18th-century stable has two window openings and one doorway, while the 19th-century addition has one plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
