Description
Pengrugla is a house built in the mid to late 19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble, featuring brick dressings and granite quoins, and has a hipped slate roof with ridge tiles. The building has an axial stack with a brick shaft. The layout consists of a two-room plan, with an off-centre entrance to the right; the larger room is on the left and the smaller room on the right, both heated by back-to-back fireplaces from the axial stack.
The exterior is two storeys high and nearly symmetrical, with a two-window front. There are 20th-century 12-pane sash windows with brick segmental arches and brick jambs on both the ground and first floors to the left and right. The entrance door, also from the 20th century, is off-centre to the right and features a brick segmental arch and brick jambs. The left end of the house is blind, while the right end has a 20th-century plank door with a brick segmental arch and brick jambs. At the rear, there is a 20th-century window with a timber lintel at the first floor centre, and another 20th-century 12-pane sash window with a brick segmental arch and brick jambs to the right at the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
