Description

Tregascoe Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with a rebuilding dated 1795 and further alterations made in the mid to late 19th century, along with some 20th-century changes. The structure is built from granite rubble and cob, with the front featuring granite ashlar. It has a hipped slate roof with ridge tiles over the front section and end stacks with brick shafts. The rear section has a half-hipped slate roof with a ridge tile and an end stack to the left.

Originally, the farmhouse had a two-room plan with a central entrance, and each room was heated by an end stack. After the 1795 refacing, a rear range was likely added in the 19th century, which includes a kitchen on the left, heated by an end stack, a stair hall at the rear center, and an unheated dairy on the right.

The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century four-pane sashes set in 18th-century openings, featuring flat arches with voussoirs and keystones. There is a central 20th-century glazed door and a datestone with the year 1795 carved in raised numerals at first-floor level. The left end of the front range is blind and made of rubble. In the rear range, there is a projecting oven and a 19th-century four-pane sash window on the left at ground floor, while the right end has a 19th-century twelve-pane sash window at both ground and first floors. At the rear, to the left, there is a 19th-century twelve-pane sash at ground floor and a plank door with a twelve-pane sash above. There is also a later 19th-century stack above. To the right, there is a two-pane window and a twelve-pane sash lighting the stair, along with a plank door and a twelve-pane sash, and additional four-pane and twelve-pane sashes at the first floor.

Inside, there are 18th-century two-panelled doors on the first floor and a straight stair located in the rear range.
