Description

The gateway at the south entrance to the churchyard of the Church of St Stephen was built in the late 19th century. It is made of granite ashlar and features cast iron gates. The central pair of square plan ashlar piers stand about 2 meters high and have pyramidal capitals. The cast iron gates are adorned with trefoil finials on both the mid rail and the top rail. On either side of the gateway, there is a short section of ashlar wall that sweeps forward, measuring about 2 meters long and 1.5 meters high, topped with moulded granite coping.
