Description
No. 4 Rose Hill is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of rendered and painted stone rubble, featuring asbestos slate hanging on the south-west elevation facing the harbour. The house has a slate roof with hipped ends and brick end stacks.
The building has a single depth, two-room plan with a central entrance on the two-storey elevation facing Rose Hill. It is built into the side of a hill, resulting in a two-storey and basement elevation on the south-west side and a two-storey elevation on the north-east side facing Rose Hill. The south-west elevation is symmetrical with three windows; it is hung with asbestos slate and has three 19th-century six-pane sash windows above the basement on the ground and first floors. The north-east elevation facing Rose Hill also features 19th-century six-pane sash windows and a 19th-century four-panel door.
The interior has not been inspected. The important south-west elevation is visible from the harbour, Roscarrock Hill, Church Hill, and Fore Street.
