Description
The Mariners is a house dating to the mid-19th century, situated on Fore Street in Port Isaac. It is constructed of rendered and painted stone rubble, with a rag slate roof featuring hipped ends and a brick chimney stack on the left-hand hipped end. The windows have flat brick arches. The house has a two-room and cross-passage plan. The symmetrical two-window front has a central 19th-century four-panelled door with a fanlight and panelled reveals. There are two 19th-century six-pane hornless sash windows on both the ground and first floors. Internally, the left-hand room features a 20th-century chimney-piece. The rear elevation has a picturesque roof with small 19th-century casement windows set within half-dormers with raking roofs. The building possesses group value.
