Description
The barns and horse engine house located on the north side of the yard at Lynher Farm date back to 1838, as indicated by a datestone, and were likely extended on the left side in the mid-19th century. Constructed from stone rubble with granite dressings, the buildings feature a slate roof with hipped ends and a canted end for the horse engine house at the rear.
The structure consists of a range of shippons and stables, with a loft and threshing floor on the first floor, and the horse engine house situated at the rear right. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front elevation facing the yard. The earlier range on the right includes six shippon doors and feeding doors on the ground floor, with granite lintels above that create a granite string band. There are two double doors and a single door leading to the threshing floor above; the two openings on the right are covered with a slate hipped hood, while the left-hand opening has a corrugated asbestos hood. The datestone from 1838 is visible, along with a row of pigeon holes below the eaves. The extension on the left side also has two door openings on the ground floor and a reset three-light mullion window on the first floor. At the rear of the right-hand barn is the horse engine house with its canted end. The interior has not been inspected.
