Description

The Polglaze tomb, located approximately 30 metres north of the east end of the Church of St Phillack in Hayle, is a chest tomb from the early 19th century. It features granite ashlar sides and an incised slate lid, with a rectangular plan. The tomb is inscribed with the names of John Polglaze, who died in 1830 at the age of 39, and Bridget, the widow of John Polglaze and wife of Peter Hooper, who died in 1837 at the age of 46.
