Description

The headstone of Mary May, located 2.0 metres to the northeast of the vestry of the Church of St. Michael, dates from 1786. It commemorates Mary, the wife of William May, who passed away in that year. This rectangular headstone is made of slate and features inscriptions in both upper and lower case lettering with serifs. The inscription includes a verse that expresses a farewell to her husband and children, with a hopeful message about reuniting in heaven and with loving friends where joy will never end.
