Description
The lychgate at the southeast entrance to St. Michael's Churchyard dates from around 1865 and is possibly designed by J.P. St. Aubyn, who may have also been responsible for the restoration of St. Michael's Church in the same year. The structure features stone rubble side walls with granite dressings and decorative slate hanging in the gable ends of its steeply pitched slate roof. It has a rectangular plan, and the slate-hung gable ends are pierced to create trefoiled arches above the entrances. There is a 20th-century timber gate that is designed to be sympathetic to the original style. The roof is supported by collar rafters.
