Description
Buxton Villa is a house built in 1840, likely designed by RS Pope. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features lateral stacks with a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in the Italianate style. It stands three storeys high and has a three-window range. The symmetrical front includes projecting pedimented wings with a banded ground floor leading to a plat band and a frieze. A central open porch projects forward and features paired semicircular arches supported by linked panelled square columns with imposts. To the right, there is a segmental-arched doorway with an overlight and a two-panel door. The windows are framed with architraves, with the ground-floor left window being blind, and the others are 6/6-pane sashes. The left side of the building has a shallow projection with a tripartite ground-floor window that has a moulded head, a right-hand lateral stack above a ground-floor 6/6-pane sash, and a blind first-floor window. The interior has not been inspected. The stylistic features connect this building to Nos 1-7, supporting its attribution.
