Description

A pair of attached houses dating to around 1840, located in Kensington Place, Clifton, Bristol. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with a shared party wall stack, and the roof is not visible. They have a double-depth plan, and are two storeys high with an attic and basement.

The houses are five windows wide, with No.5 set back slightly and featuring a three-window range. No.5 has a ground-floor frieze and cornice, a first-floor sill band, frieze, and cornice, and a coped attic storey. The front of No.5 is near-symmetrical, with a central Ionic porch and an architrave to an overlight and a two-panel door. No.6 has a recessed left-side entrance with a moulded semicircular-arched door, a blocked fanlight, and a six-panel door. The ground-floor inner windows are tripartite with subordinate pilasters, while the outer bays are canted to the right and square to the left. Upper windows have incised surrounds and feature 6/6-pane sashes, with 3/6-pane sashes in the attic. The interior has not been inspected.
