Description
Appledore Cottage, along with the attached doorway of Number 25 (Number 25 is not included), is an attached house dating from the early 19th century. It features a rendered exterior with limestone dressings and is designed in the late Georgian style. The building stands two storeys high and has a two-window range. The front, which has a parapet, includes a doorway on the right, set within a flat surround that has a keyed segmental head and a 20th-century door. To the left, there is a full-height canted bay with 8/8-pane sashes, flanked by 6/6-pane sashes, and a 6/6-pane sash window above the door. Inside, there is a tiled hall, a 20th-century staircase with a quarter landing, and 19th-century fireplaces on the first floor. The attached doorway to Number 25 features a semicircular arch with a shallow Gibbs surround and a door that has a wrought-iron grille.
