Description

Number 27 is an attached house located on Granby Hill in Clifton, dating from the late 18th century. The building is rendered with limestone dressings and features lateral stacks and a pantile roof. It has a double-depth plan and is designed in a mid-Georgian style, standing three storeys tall with a basement and a one-bay range. The front has a parapet with a moulded coping and a right-hand doorway flanked by attached Doric columns leading to a pediment. This doorway includes a metal fanlight with a lantern and a six-panel door. The full-height canted bay has six-over-six pane sash windows, while the first floor features six-over-nine pane windows.

Inside, the entrance hall is divided by a keyed semicircular arch with panelled reveals, leading to a rear open dogleg stair with column-on-vase balusters, a moulded ramped rail, and a wide curtail. The doorways have panelled reveals, six-panel doors, and panelled shutters. There are marble fireplaces with pilasters on the ground and first floors, and the cellars are brick vaulted. The property also includes attached railings and capped piers as subsidiary features.
