Description

Number 16 is an early 19th-century attached house located on Richmond Hill, Clifton, Bristol. The building is rendered with limestone dressings and has a hidden roof. It follows a double-depth plan and is built in a late Georgian style. The three-storey front has a three-window arrangement. A door is positioned on the right-hand side, featuring a timber surround, a plate-glass overlight and a four-panel door. A central canted timber bay features a cornice and plate-glass sashes with margin bars. The first floor has semicircular-arched 6/6-pane sashes with interlacing bars, a central 8/8-pane sash, and the second floor has 4/plate-glass sashes. The left-hand return extends one window deep, including a semicircular-arched first-floor window.

Inside, the entrance hall leads to a lateral dogleg staircase with stick balusters. Original features include a cornice, panelled shutters, and six-panel doors. Attached to the front are basement area wrought-iron railings and gates with urn finials.
