Description
The lychgate at the Church of St Peter was built in 1872 by G E Street. It features a half-hipped gable roof covered with tiles, which sits above an ogee-topped trefoil arch supported by seven timber braces. There is a trefoil opening on the side between the buttressed bases of each rib, which rests on a stone plinth with two set-offs. A longitudinal tie rib is visible, open to the rafters above the ribs. An openwork iron cross adorns the west gable. This lychgate is part of a group that includes the Church of St Peter, a churchyard cross, the Chapel of the Resurrection, and two groups of gravestones.
