Description

The Chapel of the Resurrection at the Church of St Peter is a mortuary chapel built between 1925 and 1926 by Sir Ninian Comper. It features a plain exterior in the Tudor style, constructed of stone. The roof has a flat parapet that is raised pedimentally at the west end, which includes a canopied sculpture of the Crucifixion above the doorway. There is a flat-roofed east vestry.

Inside, the chapel has a Quattrocento design, with two-bay arcades supported by stone Tuscan columns, which hold up a groined plaster vault. Above the altar, there is a bas-relief of Majestas set within an elliptical vesica, adorned with ten radiating finials.

The Chapel of the Resurrection, along with the Church of St Peter, the Churchyard Cross, the Lychgate, and two groups of gravestones, forms a cohesive group of historical structures.
