Description
A long line of Tractarian Gothic gabled tomb chests, dating from around 1850 to 1860, is located on the terrace immediately east of St Peter's Church. These tomb chests have a uniform character but feature varying designs and are set amidst heather. Behind them are various headstones shaped like crosses within quatrefoils. This site is significant both historically and visually, as it reflects the appeal of Bournemouth's High Church during that period. The Church of St Peter, the Churchyard Cross, the Lychgate, the Chapel of the Resurrection, and two groups of gravestones together form a cohesive group.
