Description
The Westover Gardens Hotel and attached shops, located at Nos 5 to 7 Westover Road, were built around 1900. This building is made of red brick with stone dressings and shares a similar architectural style with Nos 1 to 4 Westover Road. The skyline features a segmental pediment on an otherwise straight gable, flanked by segment-headed dormers that have tripartite windows supported by consoles. All first and second floor windows are tripartite and include pilaster-mullions. There is an identical iron verandah-loggia over the pavement, matching that of Nos 1 to 4. This building is included for its significance in the street scene as part of a group with other nearby structures. Nos 1 to 7 Westover Road and Nos 5 to 17 Gervis Place form a group with Hinton and Westover Chambers on Hinton Road.
