Description
Gervis Hall (Hornes) is an asymmetrical Italianate commercial building dating from around 1860, situated on a bend in the road. The building is constructed of stucco and extends over three storeys with dormers. The entrance bay features a doorway flanked by rusticated pilasters, with rusticated quoins to the two upper floors. There is a pedimented window on the first floor. A canted bay window is present on the left side, extending to the first and second floors, with a thin rusticated pilaster beyond. The main facade presents a straight front, three windows wide, to the right. All windows have blind casings. Gervis Hall, along with House of Fraser, The Arcade (numbers 1 to 23A inclusive), and number 28 Old Christchurch Road, form a group of buildings of group value.
