Description
Combe Ridge is a large detached Italianate villa built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof. The building has a compact square plan and is two storeys high on the entrance side, with a third storey located below the terrace on the garden front.
The exterior includes three windows, primarily four-pane sashes. The road-facing front has a window that replaces the original central entrance, flanked by large arched lights with keystones. The west front features a twelve-pane sash and a pedimented entrance, while the south side has three four-pane sashes above large arched lights leading to the terrace, which has a solid balustrade. The lower ground level includes a three-bay arcade. The villa has deep bracketed eaves on a dentil bedmould and two ashlar stacks at each end, topped with a low-pitched hipped roof.
The interior has not been inspected. Combe Ridge is part of a group of four similar villas that take advantage of the sloping site, offering extensive views to the south.
