Description

ABBEY VIEW (West side) No. 10 05/08/75 GV II

House at upper end of terrace. c1864. MATERIALS: Ashlar, slate roof. PLAN: A wide span hipped roof villa with symmetrical front, and return to Abbey View Gardens at an acute angle. EXTERIOR: Two storeys and attic, three windows, plain sash in raised plat surrounds and with sill brackets, and an added dormer. Central arched doorway with C20 flush door and plain fanlight. Plain quoin pilasters, deep flat eaves. The return front has an inserted dormer, above a plain sash and a doorway, with eaves stack. INTERIOR: Not inspected. HISTORY: The house forms a `stop' to the upper end of Abbey View Terrace (qv). First appears in Bath Directory in 1866-1867.
