Description
12 and 12A Queen's Place are two houses built in the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed of limestone ashlar, with part of the exterior painted, and feature a pantile roof.
The buildings are two storeys tall with a lower ground floor. No. 12A, which is directly attached to The Golden Fleece, has a single bay width, late 20th-century windows, and a door beneath a hood. It also has a moulded cornice with a blocking course and a parapet, with a stack positioned to the left. No. 12 features two twelve-pane sash windows above a large sixteen-pane window, and a twelve-pane window on the lower ground floor. To the right, there is a 20th-century door set on five stone steps leading to a landing that bridges the area. The moulded cornice, blocking course, and parapet of No. 12 are slightly lower than those of No. 12A, with a stack also on the left side. The rear of both houses has been rebuilt in a square block style with a plain parapet and various window openings, with alterations made to No. 12A.
The interiors have not been inspected. These houses are part of a modest row that remains in an area where much of the original architecture has been demolished.
