Description
Nos. 11, 12, and 13 are three terrace houses built between 1819 and 1827. They are constructed from painted limestone ashlar with a rough masonry plinth on No. 13, and feature double-pitched slate roofs with moulded stacks between Nos. 11 and 12. Each house has a double depth plan and stands two storeys tall with basements, showcasing a two-window front. The buildings have coped parapets that return over the gable ends, cornices, and late 19th-century plate glass sash windows.
No. 11 features stop-chamfered reveals and steps with railings leading up to a five-panel door that is glazed at the top, with one window to the right. No. 12 has a continuous parapet and cornice that matches No. 11, similar steps, railings, and a door with an overlight to the right, along with paired windows to the left on the ground floor and basement. No. 13 is slightly stepped down and has its door in the right return facing Ferry Lane.
The leases for Nos. 12 and 13 are dated March 25, 1819, while the lease for No. 11 is from 1827. This row is part of the late Georgian development of the Dolemeads area, which was undertaken by Mr. John Farmer, situated between the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal.
