Description
13 and 14 Queen's Place are a pair of mid-19th century houses located on the west side of Queen's Place. They are constructed from limestone ashlar, with No. 14 featuring a pantile roof and No. 13 having a concrete tile roof. The houses are designed as double depth structures but have been modified over time.
Both houses are two storeys high with a lower ground floor, each having two windows. No. 13 features deep four-pane sash windows and a 20th-century door located on stone steps to the left, set within deep reveals and a sunk arched surround. There is also a flight of steps leading to a lower door (No. 13A) in the area, which is surrounded by coursed rubble walling. No. 14 has plain sash windows and a corresponding doorway on steps to the right, along with an additional door at the lower ground floor.
The buildings have a full-width moulded cornice, a blocking course, and a parapet with coped gables and a party division. Each house has a square central stack on the ridge. The rear of the houses features single lights at each level, with a door at mid-level for No. 13 and a lower ground door for No. 14, all leading to a plain parapet. The roof of No. 13 has been rebuilt to a steeper pitch than the original.
These houses are part of a short row of modest homes in an area where much has been demolished. The interiors have not been inspected.
