Description
No. 4 Prospect Place is a house located at the end of a terrace, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and has a slate roof. The building has a double depth compact block design, with the entrance bay set back to the right.
The exterior features two storeys and a basement, with a total of three windows on the upper floor and one on the ground floor, all of which are plain sashes set in moulded architraves. The ground floor windows have cornices supported by brackets, while the basement has 20th-century French casements. The entrance consists of a four-panel door with a margin pane transom light, framed by Doric pilasters and an entablature. This entrance is accessed via eight nosed steps and a landing, which are enclosed by stone balustrades that stop at piers. The main range of the house includes plain quoin pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a blocking course that runs the full width of the building. There are chimney stacks at each end of the house.
The interior has not been inspected. The property has access from Beechen Cliff Road and from a narrow lane to the west.
