No. 23 And Attached Railings

This is a three-storey terrace house, originally built around 1775, and later converted for use as a shop and flats in the 20th century. It is located on the west side of Belvedere. The front of the house is faced with limestone ashlar, while the basement is of rubble construction. The rear has a mix of ashlar and rubble. The roof is a mansard design with concrete tiles and a coped party wall to the left, incorporating two chimney stacks with early clay pots. A rear staircase is present.

The front of the house has three windows per floor. The first floor windows are plate glass sashes with arched surrounds, moulded cornices, and stone sills. The second floor mirrors this design. The ground floor has two plate glass sashes and a six-panel door with a glazed panel, set within a pedimented Ionic doorcase. A pennant-paved crossover leads to the pavement, with a cast iron footscraper. The basement contains two two-paned sashes and a 20th-century door and area steps. A double dormer window with a plate glass sash is visible in the roof. The eaves feature a modillion cornice, and the parapet is coped, with a moulded lead hopperhead and downpipe on the left side. The rear elevation, partially visible, displays 19th and 20th-century windows, a full-height ashlar extension off the staircase, and a lead hopperhead and downpipe. The interior was not inspected during the listing process. Attached to the property are wrought iron railings and a gate with shaped heads set on limestone bases.
