Description

Nos. 26, 26A, and 27 Belvedere are a group of three shops located on a corner site, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed from painted limestone ashlar and feature complex slate roofs with moulded stacks on the party walls and at the rear.

The exterior of No. 26, on the left, is three storeys high with a single window front. It has a returned coped parapet, a coved cornice, and a ground floor platband. The second floor has an eight-over-eight pane sash window, while the first floor features a twelve-over-eight pane sash window with a balconette. There is a 20th-century shop door to the left and a set-back half-glazed door to the right.

No. 26A is narrower and lower than the adjacent buildings, also three storeys high, with a one-window front that includes a coped parapet and a cornice returned to the right. It has six-over-six pane sash windows on the upper floors, a cornice above the shop fascia, a set-back door to the left, and a two-pane plate glass shop window to the right.

No. 27 features an altered 19th-century corner shop front with panelled pilasters, a platband above, a blank first floor, and a single plain sash window on the second floor. The interiors have not been inspected.
