Description

Nos. 2, 2A, and 3 Queen Street are two houses with a shop, built in the late 18th century and altered in the 20th century. They are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature a double Roman tile roof. The properties are very shallow, with high mansard roofs and identical frontages that are stepped at the center.

The buildings rise three storeys, with an attic and basement, each having two windows that are all sash windows set in plain reveals. No. 3 has a wide 20th-century dormer, while No. 2 features a paired nine-pane sash dormer above eight-pane and large sixteen-pane sash windows on the second and first floors. The ground floor showcases fine original small-pane square oriel shopfronts on either side of a pair of doors with transom lights. To the left, the window displays consist of four: sixteen: four-pane arrangements, and to the right, four: twenty-eight: four-pane arrangements, each topped with a small cornice. Both shopfronts also have pavement grilles beneath the display windows.

The left side of the ground floor has a small plinth that dies to the pavement, with a broad painted platband above it, and a modillion cornice with a blocking course and parapet. The center and right sections feature coped party divisions with deep ashlar stacks. The interiors have not been inspected.
